Teaching families in Ikeja

Dr Victoria Adeyemi, Principal of Kingsway Heritage College
Welcome

Education that prepares children for life, not only for examinations.

“A school should give a child two things: the confidence to ask a difficult question, and the character to act well on the answer.”

Kingsway Heritage College opened its doors in Ikeja with a simple conviction — that academic excellence and good character grow together, or not at all. Fifteen years later that conviction still shapes every timetable we write.

Our classrooms are deliberately small enough for teachers to know each child's work by name. Lessons move from instruction to investigation to application, so pupils leave a topic able to use it, not merely recite it. Beyond the syllabus, students debate, code, farm, sing, run and lead — because the habits that carry a person through life are rarely formed at a desk alone.

Dr Victoria Adeyemi Principal, Kingsway Heritage College
Why Kingsway

More than a school. A foundation for life.

Six commitments shape how we teach, how we correct, and how we celebrate.

Academic excellence

Depth before speed

Teachers work to mastery, not coverage. Weekly checks catch a struggling pupil in days rather than at the end of term.

Character

Honesty is taught

Integrity, courtesy and responsibility are held to the same standard as mathematics, in assemblies and in corridors.

Innovation

Tools, not screens

Technology enters a lesson when it makes the thinking better — coding, robotics, research, digital design.

Leadership

Responsibility early

Prefects, club heads, house captains and peer mentors give students real duties and real accountability.

Confidence

A voice in the room

Every student speaks, presents and defends work publicly each term, from Nursery show-and-tell to SS3 project defence.

Community

Parents on the inside

Termly conferences, open lesson days and a parent portal keep families close to the work, not just the results.

Our school

One school. Three stages. One purpose.

Creche – Reception

Nursery

Where learning begins. Curiosity, communication, creativity and confidence, in a room where a child is never rushed.

Primary

Strong foundations in literacy, numeracy and reasoning, with the reading culture that carries a pupil through secondary school.

Secondary

Rigorous preparation for WAEC, NECO and university, alongside leadership, research and the beginnings of a career direction.

Academics

Learning that goes beyond the classroom.

Our teaching cycle is deliberate: learn, explore, apply, reflect, grow. A pupil should be able to explain a concept, use it on an unfamiliar problem, and say honestly what they still find difficult.

  • Experienced, subject-specialist educators
  • Student-centred lessons
  • Practical and laboratory work
  • Technology integrated into teaching
  • Critical thinking and reasoning
  • Research and project work
  • Collaborative learning
  • Structured WAEC and NECO preparation
  • Leadership development
  • Continuous assessment and feedback

Parents

Trusted by families.

“My daughter came in shy in Basic 3. She read a poem to the whole hall last term. Whatever the teachers are doing, it is working.”

Mrs Adeola Williams Parent, Basic 5

“What convinced me was the feedback. I get a call about my son's work before I have to ask, not after the report card.”

Mr Daniel Okafor Parent, JSS 2

“Academics are strong, but the discipline and the manners are what I hear about from other parents. That balance is rare.”

Mrs Chidinma Eze Parent, SS 1 and Nursery 2
